Hillary to Pak: Prove you are against terror
US secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned top Pakistani leaders on Thursday that there was no “middle way out” in the war against terrorism, and said they needed to prove they did not have any connections with the terror networks, official sources said.
“Hillary Clinton told the civil and military leadership that there cannot be a middle way out. And that Pakistan has to help the US against the Haqqani network (in North Waziristan)”, a senior government official told this newspaper as Ms Clinton held a joint meeting with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Army chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
The secretary of state arrived here from Kabul late Thursday night and went straight into talks with Mr Gilani and Gen. Kayani.
She is accompanied by Central Intelligence Agency director David Petra-eus and US military chief Martin Dempsey.
She will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Friday.
