Indian caught hidden in car speaker
Two men, including an Indian national, were caught at Singapore’s woodlands checkpoint while they were trying to leave the country illegally to Malaysia hidden inside the speakers of a car.
The Indian national, according to Singapore daily My Paper, was caught last Friday after he agreed to pay a middleman $1,000 to be smuggled out of the country inside the back hatch of the car fitted with speakers. The driver, a Malaysian national, was to get $215 for the work.
The Malaysian driver of the car and his passenger, both 25, were to be paid $107 each. The other man was a Bangladeshi national who was nabbed last Thursday after he agreed to pay a middleman $750.

Grieving bride follows groom in suicide fall
Kuala Lumpur: When a Chinese couple in Singapore chose black to be the theme for their wedding banquet, many felt that the couple was sealing their fate. The 31-year-old groom fell to his death on the wedding day and exactly 244 days later his grieving bride also fell to her death, local Chinese daily Sin Chew Daily reported.
The incident happened in Singapore where the couple had chosen black decoration for the tables and chairs as well as black uniforms for the waitresses.
The groom fell hours after the wedding banquet at a five star hotel on Singapore’s orchard road last year. Unable to accept her husband’s death, his 27-year-old bride tried to commit suicide about a month ago. —PTI

Researchers in New Zealand have discovered that the underwater world is abuzz with the sound of fish sweet-talking the opposite sex, warning others of danger, giving directions, and general background chatter.
“Predators may even hunt out prey by intercepting fish talk. All fish can hear but not all can make sound — pops and other sounds made by vibrating their swim bladder, a muscle they can contract,” the New Zealand Herald quoted researcher Shahriman Ghazali of Auckland University as saying. —PTI
