Indian man drowns in Swiss lake

A 36-year-old Indian man drowned Tuesday in Switzerland's Lake Brienz, police said.

The man had swum about 20 metres away from the shore in the central Swiss village of Oberried when he suddenly disappeared from sight.

Local police and a search and rescue team managed to pull him out from the lake, but failed to resuscitate him.

He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, said police.
