Indo-US dialogue good for us, says Pak official
Pakistan said on Wednesday that Indo-US strategic dialogue will not have any negative impact on Pak-US relations.
“I hope the Indo-US strategic dialogue will improve regional environment and will have no negative impact on Pak-US relations,” foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said.
Talking to Voice of America, he said that whether it is Pak-US relations or Indo-US relations, all three countries must focus to promote their interests.
He said diplomacy is aimed at promoting bilateral relations and “lessening the differences” on certain issues.
“In Pak-US strategic dialogue, we tried to expand our relations beyond terrorism and security. And we have no objection over Indo-US bilateral relations,” he added.
He said India and US have right to improve their relations and Indo-US relations should not cast any negative impact on Pakistan interests. Washington and New Delhi’s relations should cast positive effects on the region, he said.
Mr Basit hoped that as result of Indo-US dialogue, Pak-India relations should also improve.
