Israel approves pullout from Lebanon border town
Israel has approved a withdrawal from the northern side of a divided town along the volatile Lebanese border.
Prime Minister Netanyahu's office says an inner Cabinet of decisionmakers approved the pullout on Wednesday. It says final details will be worked out with UN peacekeepers in the coming weeks.
Israel recaptured the northern half of Ghajar during its 2006 war against Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas. It pledged to withdraw under a cease-fire but has remained in the town since then because of security concerns.
While Israel will retain control of Ghajar's south, Netanyahu's office said that after the pullout, it will ensure that residents from both sides still have free movement throughout the village.
