Japanese climber dies on expedition to Everest
A 59-year-old Japanese climber, on an expedition to the Mount Everest, died just a few metres from the world's highest mountain peak, official said on Friday.
The climber, Takashi Ozaki, fell ill during his expedition and collapsed at an altitude of 8,600 meters.
He was just 250 metres away from the mountain summit when he collapsed on Thursday, an official at the department of mountaineering in the ministry of Tourism said.
He died the same afternoon, the official said.
This was the third death recorded this month close to the Mount Everest.
In another mishap, four persons have gone missing after a boat capsized in the Lalitpur area of Kathmandu on Friday.
The four missing were identified as Milan Basnet, Shyam Kunwar, Sirjana Karki and Rajkumar Thapa.
According to the police six of the 10 people, who were on the boat when it went down, have been rescued and police is looking for the missing persons.
