Keep Golden Temple on Obama's schedule: Sikhs
Washington: The American Sikh community has asked the White House to keep the Golden Temple on the schedule of US President Barack Obama during his visit to India next month amid reports that he may not go there.
They also urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to impress upon the White House in this regard.
In a statement, Rajwant Singh, Chairman of Sikh Council on Religion and Education, welcomed the statement of White House press secretary Robert Gibbs that the India schedule of the US President has not been finalized yet.
"Look, it's a big country. We would love to spend a lot more than the three allotted days that we have in India.
This trip will focus our business in the cities of Mumbai and New Delhi. But we pick where we're going to go on trips based on what we hope to accomplish," Gibbs had said.
