Krishna arrives in Kabul

The external affairs minister, Mr S.M. Krishna, arrived here on Monday night for an international conference on the future of Afghanistan being hosted by the Afghan President, Mr Hamid Karzai.

Mr Karzai met with several foreign ministers who arrived in Kabul, including Mr Krishna.

Mr Krishna is scheduled to meet the US Secretary of State, Ms Hillary Clinton, in Kabul on Tuesday.

Nearly 70 international representatives are to participate in the Kabul Conference, which will endorse new development projects and transfer more aid money and responsibility to Afghan administration.

Mr Karzai will co-chair the conference along with UN Secretary-General, Mr Ban ki-Moon.
