Krishna likely to meet Qureshi at UN today
Ahead of a possible meeting of their foreign ministers here, India and Pakistan underlined that despite differences on Kashmir and terrorism, they have “no other alternative” but to engage in dialogue.
External affairs minister S.M. Krishna said India wants to engage Pakistan in talks as it is the only way forward.
“India wants to keep Pakistan engaged in talks because we do not see any other alternative,” he told reporters at a reception at India’s permanent mission to the UN.
Indian diplomats have not yet confirmed any meeting but Karachi’s Dawn newspaper quoted a senior Pakistani diplomat as saying that a meeting was likely to take place on Monday.
Mr Krishna will be in New York till September 29 and Shah Mahmood Qureshi till September 30.
