Lahore twin blasts kill 28
At least 28 people were killed and over 180 others injured on Wednesday when three suicide bombers blew themselves up in back-to-back attacks targeting Shia processions in Lahore, while unidentified gunmen wounded seven people in Karachi.
The first blast, caused by a low intensity explosive device, went off near the Karbala Gamay Shah Imambargah (prayer ground) after 6.45 pm, where thousands of Shias had gathered to observe the Yaum-e-Ali. The suicide bombers struck in the nearby Bhatti Chowk area at around 7.15 pm.
The Geo News channel reported that the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi al-Almi had claimed responsibility for the blasts.
The Mayo, Services and Gangaram hospitals reported receiving 28 bodies, including that of a minor girl and a policeman. Over 180 injured were taken to the three hospitals.
