Lanka PM says LTTE network still active
Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne has warned that the international network of the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE) is still active and could revive their terror activities again.
"The international network is active and is trying to revive the group", Jayaratne told the Lankan parliament.
He said that over 6,000 ex-LTTE rebels have been rehabilitated or reintegrated into society.
Jayaratne said emergency laws are required to prevent threats to the island-nation''s security.
