Libya rebels turn pink
After a second embarassing incident of friendly fire by Nato jets, rebel chiefs in Libya are now painting their vehicles pink, The Envoy has reported.
At least four rebel fighters were killed after coalition warplanes mistook the lot for Muammer Gaddafi's forces. Nato has apologised for the incident, after much fury.
Coalition officials had earlier claim they were not informed about the presence of rebel fighter in oil-rich Brega as they mobilised F16s and F18s to help throw out embattled leader Gaddafi.
"I am not apologising. The situation on the ground was extremely fluid and remains extremely fluid, and until yesterday we did not have information," Rear Adm. Russell Harding, British deputy commander of the NATO-led Libya air campaign told journalists in Naples, according to the New York Times.
Rebel heads, however, disagree.
In their stronghold of Benghazi, commander Gen. Abdul Fattah Younes told another group of journalists that they had informed Nato about anti-government tanks and personnel on the ground.
"Twice, they've hit us by accident now," a rebel told on Friday.
