Lobsang Yeshi sworn in as Tibetan MP
Former president of Tibetan Youth Congress and long-time activist Lobsang Yeshi has been sworn in as a member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE).
Yeshi took the oath of office at a ceremony on Wednesday, which was attended by standing committee members of the TPiE and staff of the parliamentary secretariat.
His swearing-in comes after Geshe Yungdrung Gyaltsen, a sitting member from Do-Toe province, submitted his resignation dated January 1, 2012, citing personal reasons.
Yeshi secured the stipulated 33 per cent of votes from Do-Toe province during general elections in March last year and was next to Geshe Yungdrung Gyaltsen.
The parliament, which consists of 43 members, is scheduled to meet for its next session on March 14.
