Mali police say explosion suspect 'Al-Qaeda'

A Tunisian man arrested after exploding a gas cylinder in front of the French embassy in the Malian capital Bamako claimed Wednesday he belongs to Al-Qaeda, a police official said.

"We are on the Al-Qaeda track," the official told AFP. "The Tunisian we have arrested told us he belongs to Al-Qaeda."

Another Malian source earlier said two people had been injured, but French deputy foreign ministry spokeswoman Christine Fages said only one person had been wounded.
