Media outlet torched in Sri Lanka
A spokesman says a dozen armed men have attacked and torched offices of a private television and radio station in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo.
Jimmy Deen, a spokesman for Voice of Asia Network, says about 12 men carrying assault rifles and handguns entered the offices about 1.30 am on Friday and assaulted a security guard before throwing petrol bombs.
Deen says the attack seriously damaged the network’s TV control room, studio and library, and that a security guard and another employee were injured.
He says network’s TV channel has been forced to shut down but that its three radio channels are still operating. Police spokesman Prishantha Jayakody has confirmed the attack, but says that the police is still confirming details
