Nato helicopter crashes in Afghanistan
A military helicopter with the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) crashed in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, Xinhua reported.
“An International Security Assistance Force helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday and recovery operations are under way,” said a statement issued by ISAF.
ISAF is still in the process of assessing the circumstances to determine the facts of the incident, the statement said, adding “reporting indicates there was enemy activity in the area.” An Afghan official told Xinhua on Saturday that the incident occurred in eastern Wardak province.
“A joint unit of Afghan and Nato-led ISAF forces conducted a search and cleanup operation against Taliban insurgents in Sayed Abad district late on Friday and the operation continue into on Saturday morning,” Shahidullah Shahid said. Shahid also said one ISAF chopper went down during the operation.
