Nicolas Sarkozy's son Louis suspected of pelting police woman

French President Nicolas Sarkozy apologised to a policewoman after his son Louis threw a tomato at her from the presidential palace.

Sarkozy's son Louis, 15, with ex-wife Cecilia, and his friends threw the vegetable at the officer, according to sources.

Sources say that Sarkozy later met the policewoman and apologised.

The president, who recently married Carla Bruni, also has two sons from his first marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli.

Sarkozy is fighting for re-election in this year's presidential elections but is currently trailing in the polls behind Socialist Francois Hollande.
