No ghost, says Gilani, I wrote it
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday said he himself has written his memoirs Chah-e-Yousuf Se Sada. Responding to a statement of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) leader Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat in the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said, “I myself authored this book when I had been in jail for five years.”
Faisal Saleh Hayat had claimed that local journalist Rauf Klasra had authored the Prime Minister’s memoirs.
The Prime Minister said, “Rauf Klasra is my friend. He is from Saraiki belt. He is my personal friend and had been meeting me in jail.” He added, “Rauf Klasra writes in English language, but this book is in Urdu and I have written it.”
Faisal Saleh Hayat maintained that Prime Minister Gilani did not write the memoirs himself and had asked Klasra to write the book for him. He referred to frequent meetings between the journalist and Mr Gilani when the Prime Minister was imprisoned during Mr Nawaz Sharif’s tenure as the Prime Minister and the military regime of Pervez Musharraf.
