No US budget deal, govt shutdown looms

With a midnight deadline looming, the White House and Congress scrambled on Friday to break a budget impasse that threatens to shut down the US government. Without an agreement on spending for the next six months, money to operate the federal government runs out at midnight on Friday and agencies like the Internal Revenue Service would begin a partial shutdown.
