Once world’s ugliest dog Miss Ellie dies
Miss Ellie, a small, bug-eyed Chinese Crested Hairless dog whose pimples and lolling tongue helped her win Animal Planet’s “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest in 2009, has died at age 17 after a career in resort show business in the Smoky Mountains.
The Mountain Press reported on Thursday that Ellie starred in shows at the Comedy Barn in Pigeon Forge.
She also appeared on the Animal Planet cable show Dogs 101 and was on billboards and in a commercial. Pigeon Forge mayor Keith Whaley proclaimed November 12 as “Miss Ellie Day” for her owner’s efforts to raise money for the local humane society.

Coffee not a boost for morning
age correspondent
London
Drinking a cup of coffee in morning has no tangible effect on alertness, according to British scientists. So, caffeine buzz with the morning cup of coffee has no real advantage. It is all in the mind.
The research in UK, published in the Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology, involved detailed tests on 379 individuals who abstained from caffeine for 16 hours before being given either caffeine or a placebo. The researchers found that there was little variance in levels of alertness amongst these test cases. Frequent coffee drinkers develop a tolerance to both the anxiety-producing effects and the stimulatory effects of caffeine.

I looked like a girl as kid, says Cooper
Los Angeles: Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper revealed he was often mistaken for a girl as a young boy. “I never lived the life of ‘Oh, you’re so good-looking. People thought I was a girl when I was little, because I looked like a girl — maybe because my mother would keep my hair really long in a bowl cut,” said the A Team star.
Meanwhile, rumours are abuzz that Cooper and his girlfriend Renee Zellweger’s relationship seems to have hit a rough patch.
According to reports, Zellweger’s constant presence on the sets of Cooper’s movie has been irking the actor. —IANS
