Pakistan removes naval base commander after attack
The commander of a Pakistani naval air base in Karachi has been removed from his post following a terrorist attack on the facility that left 14 people dead, a media report said on Wednesday.
PNS Mehran Base Commander Commodore Raja Tahir has been removed from his post after being suspended and Commodore Khalid Parvez has been appointed as the new base commander, Geo News reported.
Commodore Raja Tahir would remain suspended till the completion of the inquiry. Four navy personnel, currently in the Adiala prison, were also being probed in connection with the attack on May 22.
On Sunday night, terrorists stormed the military base in Karachi. The 15-hour siege ended Monday afternoon with 14 people, including four terrorists, being killed.
