Pakistan's former president Pervez Musharraf arrested

Islamabad: In a dramatic early morning move, the local police stormed the high security Chak Shahzad farm house of former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf on the outskirts of Islamabad and arrested him on Friday. He was rushed to a local court where prosecutors appealed for his arrest and remand.
After hearing the prosecutors and the former president’s lawyers, the court remanded him to judicial custody.
Musharraf’s lawyers pleaded that since he is facing threats to life, he should be allowed to stay in his high-security farm house under house arrest. The police also want the farm house to be declared a sub jail.
Earlier, the police had sealed all roads leading to Musharraf's farmhouse and asked local residents and motorists to use different routes.
The case pertains to the detention of more than 60 judges during the emergency and directed police to arrest him.
