Palin, Romney back US-Indian

Giving a major boost to the candidacy of Indian American Nikki Haley for the governorship of South Carolina State, top Republican leaders including Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney have endorsed her campaign.
The impact of her endorsement coming from top two Republican leaders were evident as the latest opinion poll released on Thursday showed Haley way ahead of her closest rival.
While Ms Palin was the vice-presidential candidate for the Republican Party, Mr Romney is considered to be one of the leading Republican Party presidential aspirant for the 2012 presidential elections.
A new Rasmussen reports telephone survey of likely Republican primary voters shows Ms Haley earning 30 per cent support, followed by state attorney-general Henry McMaster who picks up 19 per cent, Congressman Gresham Barrett with 17 per cent and lieutenant governor Andre Bauer 12 per cent of the vote.

7-yr-old girl puts Michelle in tough spot
Washington, May 21: US President Barack Obama’s wife, Ms Michelle Obama, was put in an embarrassing position when a seven-year-old girl asked whether her mother would be deported for being an illegal immigrant.
Authorities later said that the girl’s mother won’t be deported. Michelle was on a visit with Mexican First Lady Margarita Zavala to the New Hampshire Estates Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, when she took questions from the young students. The girl said: “My mom... She says that Barack Obama is taking everybody away that doesn’t have papers.” Michelle responded: “Yeah, well that’s something that we have to work on, right? To make sure that people can be here with the right kind of papers, right? That’s exactly right.” The girl continued: “But my mom doesn’t have any papers.”
To which Michelle replied: “Well, we have to work on that. We have to fix that, and everybody’s got to work together in Congress to make sure that happens.”
A spokesperson for the department of homeland security said that the girl’s mother will not be deported. —IANS

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
