Paraguay president undergoes chemotherapy
Paraguayan President, Mr Fernando Lugo, underwent a chemotherapy session at a hospital here to treat the lymphatic cancer he is suffering from, a minister said.
The head of state, who is suffering from lymphoma, got admitted at the Migone Hospital in the capital on Friday and began treatment that lasted for around four to six hours, Information minister, Mr Augustos Dos Santos, said.
This was the second chemotherapy session for Lugo, 59, who underwent the first treatment session August 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he remained for four days for physical examination that confirmed lymphoma in three parts of his body: groin, thorax and third vertebra.
One of his attending doctors, Alfredo Boccia, said the illness will not keep him from governing before his term in office ends Aug 15, 2013.
