Patients to rate docs on website
Patients in the UAE capital city of Abu Dhabi can now find a doctor, check his credentials at the click of a button and also “rate” him.
A new website launched by the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD) displays the doctor’s nationality, photograph, gender, experience and qualifications.
The service also called Minhaal, is a directory that lists conditions, symptoms and treatments for various ailments.
Dr Jamal Al Kaabi, head of customer services and corporate communications and HAAD, said he hoped the increased transparency would improve health services. “The public has the right to choose the doctor they find ‘suitable’ for their needs, he said adding that the doctor’s directory will ensure all licensed professionals are accessible to everyone,” he said.

Small animals more at risk of warming
Washington: Small mammals are more at risk from global warming than previously thought, biologists have claimed.
“We were interested in the small animals because we wanted to know about the response of the survivors, the communities of animals that are still on the landscape with us today,” lead researcher Elizabeth Hadly of Stanford University wrote in the Nature journal.
For their research, the biologists excavated deposits in Samwell Cave, in the southern Cascades foothills. They also sampled the modern small-mammal community by doing some live trapping in the area of the cave.
The biggest change they saw in the fossil deposits was the manner in which different small-animal species were spread across the landscape. —PTI
