Pervez wife back in Pak farmhouse
Islamabad, Sept. 4: The plush farmhouse built by the former president, Mr Pervez Musharraf, on the outskirts of the Pakistani capital, finally has an occupant.
Mr Musharraf’s wife, Ms Sehba, who went with Mr Musharraf when he left Pakistan in April 2009 to avoid facing a raft of civil and police cases filed against him, made a quiet return to the country recently and moved into the farmhouse at Chak Shahzad.
Mr Musharraf, who quit as the President in August 2008, had built the farmhouse for his retirement but was unable to move into it. He has made London his base for the past two years.
Mr Musharraf’s decision to build the farmhouse at Chak Shahzad sparked a controversy as the area was marked out as agricultural land to grow vegetables and fruits. It was involved in another controversy when media reported that electricity was being supplied to it at subsidised rates.
Lt. Gen. (retired) Rashid Qureshi said, “Ms Sehba was in Pakistan on a private visit and would remain in Islamabad for about 15 days.”
