PML-Q dissidents won’t back Pervez

A dissident group of the erstwhile ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) has decided not to join hands with former military ruler Pervez Musharraf who is pulling up sleeves to resume hunt for power.
Mohammed Asif, a member of the “like minded group”, as they are known, said that Mr Musharraf has become the part of history, and the party will not support him.
Mr Asif said that his party is working with the support of masses who had already rejected the despot, adding that any political party supporting Mr Musharraf would jeopardise its political career.
He claimed that his party had no connection with the former dictator under whom the PML(Q) ruled for five years from 2002 to 2007. Mr Musharraf, who ruled the country from 1999 to 2008, has formed All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) to try his luck in politics.
His cronies are in contact with several PML(Q) leaders and workers who they say are ready to join the APML.
Meanwhile, Mr Musharraf has said that he would soon return to Pakistan to take part in national politics. In a telephonic address to a group of students here, Mr Musharraf emphasised that the youth can play a pivotal role in the country’s progress and prosperity. “Pakistan again will be on the track of progress with the efforts of the All Pakistan Muslim League,” Mr Musharraf said, adding that he needs people’s support to change the “fate of Pakistan”.

Tigers maul man, 45, to death at zoo
Beijing : Tigers mauled a man to death after he entered their enclosure with his son at a northern Chinese wildlife park, the police and a park spok-esman said. Staff at the Qingling Wildlife Park in the city of Xi’an rescued the son on Sunday afternoon after discovering his father lying on the ground as several tigers stood nearby, said the park’s spokesman, Jiao Congling.
The man suffered neck injuries and was declared dead after being taken to a hospital, Mr Congling said.
A preliminary investigation showed a park worker had failed to properly close the gates leading to the enclosure and the unidentified pair simply walked right in, Xi’an police spokesman Li Yanrong said. The park staff member responsible for controlling the gates was detained for questioning. —AP

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
