Putin appoints Playboy MP

Maria Kozhevnikova, a Playboy model has been chosen as one of Vladimir Putin’s MPs in the Duma - Russia's parliament.

Daughter of a former Soviet hockey player, Kozhevnikova posed for the Russian edition of the famous men's magazine two years ago.

Britain's Daily Mail reported that the model has also been romantically linked with Putin - but both sides have denied the claims.

'For me this is an absolutely big event in my life,' Kozhevnikova was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

'I’m just an ordinary citizen of the Russian Federation. With the problems I face every day, now I’ll be provided a platform where I can speak up the difficulties and offer solutions.'

She will be an MP from a town in Siberia.
