Quake rocks parts of southern Pakistan
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake rocked parts of southern Pakistan on Tuesday though there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
The temblor, which had its epicentre 69 km from Awaran in Balochistan province, was felt in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana and other towns and cities of Sindh province.
The US Geological Survey said the powerful quake measured 7.4 on the Richter Scale.
The quake struck at 4.29 pm Pakistani time southwest of the city of Khuzdar in Balochistan province at a depth of 23 kilometres.
According to Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, the epicentre was 120 km from Khuzdar.
Many Pakistanis said in messages posted on Twitter that the quake was felt across Karachi and Islamabad. At several places, people rushed out of high-rise buildings and began to pray.
