Rare Abraham Lincoln letter up for sale

A letter written by former US President Abraham Lincoln to one of his top generals at a turning point of the American Civil War is up for sale.
Philadelphia’s ‘Raab Collection’ is selling the document that belonged to an anonymous private collector for decades.
Lincoln wrote the letter to Major General George B. McClellan on October 29, 1862, requesting a progress report.
According to The Telegraph, the handwritten note on presidential stationery with ‘Executive Mansion’ printed at the top, stated that Lincoln was pleased with the movement of McClellan''s Army, as it crossed the Potomac River into Loudoun County, Virginia, and he was closely following its advancement.
The president's letter to McClellan ends: “When you get entirely across the river let me know. What do you know of the enemy?”
The asking price for the rare letter, signed A. Lincoln, is 100,000 dollars, the paper said.
“This was the last straw for Lincoln, who now came into his own,” said Nathan Raab, vice president of The Raab Collection.
“He realized that his strategic sense was better than that of his military experts and that he must exert leadership in military matters rather than defer to his generals,” he added.
