Strong 6.3 quake off Indonesia, no tsunami alert: Agency

A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Wednesday but no tsunami alert was issued, the meteorology agency said.

The quake struck at 3:56 pm (0856 GMT) at a depth of 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) 157 kilometres northwest of Tual in the Maluku island chain, the Indonesia Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency said on its website, issuing no tsunami alert.
