Teenager son of Andhra Congress leader dies in US

The teenager son of a Congress leader from Andhra Pradesh died in an accident in Florida after the car he was travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into the water.

Venkata Sai Reddy Ragidi (17) and his sister Mounika Ragidi (19), native of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, were visiting Florida along with a friend Harika Gunna Reddy (25), a native of Naperville, Illinois, when the accident took place, said the Telugu Association of North America (TANA).

Harika, who was driving a Nissan Sentra, steered the car into the grassy median of State Road 405 near Orlando, Florida.

When she tried to re-enter the roadway, Harika over-corrected and her car skidded over the right shoulder and overturned and entered the water submerging all three people in the car last Thursday.

Highway Patrol pulled all three of them out of the water and flown them to Holmes Regional Medical Centre in Melbourne.

"Doctors pronounced Venkat Sai dead as he was strapped with his seatbelt in the car under water for more than 9 minutes. Mounika and Harika are recovering and out of danger," said TANA president Jayaram Komati.

Venkat Sai's father Lakshma Reddy is General Secretary of the Congress Party of Hyderabad. "Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the wreck, and investigators had not determined Thursday night what caused the driver to lose control of the car and we are investigating the case," said Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
