Twin bomb blasts kill 13, wounds 28 in SW Pakistan

A car bomb followed by a suicide attack targeting security forces killed 13 people and wounded 28 others in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta on Wednesday, police said.

"First a car bomb exploded outside the residence of DIG Frontier Corps, then a suicide bomber entered inside the house and blew himself up," senior police official Hamid Shakil said, referring to the corps' deputy inspector general.

"The DIG is safe. Thirteen people have been killed and 28 were wounded," he added.

The Frontier Corps is Pakistan's paramilitary force, which took part in an operation on Monday to arrest a senior Al-Qaeda leader believed to have been responsible for planning attacks on the United States, Europe and Australia.

Quetta is the main town of Baluchistan province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran.
