US Prez says not to fret over faith
Washington, Aug. 30: The US President, Mr Barack Obama, has said that he cannot spend all his time with his birth certificate plastered on his forehead, given that misinformation campaign some people are running against his place of birth and religion.
A recent poll showed 18 per cent of Americans believe that he was a Muslim.
“The facts are the facts. So, it’s not something that I can I spend all my time worrying about. I don’t think the American people want me to spend all my time worrying about it,” he said.
The President said he went through this kind of misinformation campaign during his election campaign.
“We dealt with this when I was first running for the US Senate. We dealt with it when we were first running for the Presidency,” he said.
Mr Obama said “that he won the Senate seat in Illinois despite some people saying I couldn’t win as US Senator because I had a funny name. And yet, we ended up winning that Senate seat.”
