US reservoir drained after man caught peeing in it

A 21-year-old man has been caught on tape urinating in a reservoir of the city of Portland, Oregon, which led to an apparent draining of eight million gallons of water.

Joshua Seater was caught on a CCTV footage relieving himself in the pristine lake.

The compensatory cost would lead up to 34,000 dollars and the liability for the contribution will be on the shoulders of the city’s taxpayers.

Health experts said the incident would not have harmed people, who are supplied with drinking water from the reservoir.

But David Shaff, of the Portland Water Bureau, defended the decision to empty the lake.

“I think what you have to deal with here is the 'yuck' 'factor,' the Age quoted him as saying.

“Do you want to drink pee? Most people are going to be pretty damn squeamish,” he added.
