Zimbabwean man crowned ‘Mr Ugly’
What can be more ironical if ugliness draws you a pageant crown? Setting an example of such a paradox, a Zimbabwean man has upstaged his eight rivals to win the title of ‘Mr Ugly’ in a novel beauty pageant.
Austin Mbewe, 30, won 170 dollars and a blanket at the contest held in Beitbridge, southern Zimbabwe, according to the Herald newspaper.
"I feel honoured by this victory,” the Herald Sun quoted him as saying.
“I have been a subject of ridicule from society since childhood, and the world has seen that there is a beautiful side to my ugliness,” he added.
