How just 20 men did it in 20 mts
I swear, you had not missed a moment of Dhoni, Mahela, McCullum or any of the 22 talented cricketers playing at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Monday night.
But, perhaps you missed 20 other men who were the unsung heroes of the IPL super night at Kochi.
They were the ground staff of the Kerala Cricket Association under curator P V Ramachandran who worked hard to dry the ground after rain played spoilsport for nearly one hour after 10 overs were bowled in the Kochi Tuskers Kerala vs Chennai Super Kings match.
"After the covers were pulled over we started running three super-soppers (ground soaking machines) and also used the gunny to remove moisture from the surface and we really succeeded," said Ramachandran.
The curator said their efforts were highly praised by the field umpires Krishna Hariharan and Tony Hill.
"The umpires asked me how long it will take to make the ground ready again after the drizzle stopped. I said 15-20 minutes and we did it in 20 minutes," he said.
