Germany's Loew rules out relying on Dortmund

Germany coach Joachim Loew has ruled out relying heavily on players from new German league champions Borussia Dortmund for this month's World Cup re-match against Uruguay in a friendly.

Germany host the South Americans in Sinsheim, south-west Germany, on May 28 in a re-match of last year's third-place play-off at the World Cup in South Africa which Germany won 3-2.

Dortmund were crowned German champions on Saturday when they beat Nuremberg 2-0, but Loew has said he will not select the bulk of the Borussia team against the South Americans, as suggested by German daily ‘Bild’.

"There will be no Borussia Deutschland -- that is going too far," Loew said.

"There can sometimes be an advantage to selecting a block of players from the same club, but the majority of the national squad have been together for a long time and the team knows each other well."

Dortmund's success has come after impressive performances from young stars Mario Goetze, 18, Mats Hummels, 22, Sven Bender, 22, Kevin Grosskreutz, 22, and Marcel Schmelzer, 23, who have all played for Germany this season.

Dortmund's youngsters have impressed the senior coach during their time in the Germany squad this season.

"They are clearly highly trained at Dortmund, both in theory and practice, they are good prospects and now it is important they get some international experience in the Champions League," said Loew.

But Loew said they still have some way to develop before they can challenge for first-choice places at Euro 2012 and the next World Cup to be held in Brazil in 2014.

"The young players need to progress further in Dortmund, because the scale they are measured at will always be the major tournaments," he told German daily ‘Bild’.

"They have to prove they can play well at this high level."

Germany are currently top of their qualifying group and are set to face Austria in Vienna on June 3 and Azerbaijan in Baku on June 7 in Euro 2012 qualifiers.
