Be aware of your own self
“Meditation is the route to enlightenment.” In this statement there are two words that require elaboration. Enlightenment is not stuff received from outside.
Divinisation of emotions
Emotions are feelings that express human attitudes towards the surrounding world (towards people, their actions and phenomena) and towards humans themselves. They reflect relations of people to one another as well as to the objective world. They play a major role in one’s practical as well as cognitive activity. They indicate success and failure of one’s efforts; denote conformity or non-conformity of objects and phenomena to one’s desire, interests and needs.
God lives in emptiness
God has been conceived variously. For Aeschylus, He was “the power that holds the sky’s majesty (and) wins our worship”.
God is cypher
When I was at school, in Class 7, I had a classmate, Faquir Bakhsh, who was 22-years-old, 11 years elder to most of the other boys in the class.
Life’s special ausar moments
Chronos and Kairos are two Greek concepts of human time. Chronos is historical time, calendar time or clock time. It is considered to flow from the future, through the present to the past.
Various faces of ambition
Ambition is an ardent worldly aspiration that generally extends over time and whose fulfilment is not easy. This is called trishna in Sikh parlance.
What is in a salutation?
If you greet someone, “Good morning!”, you will probably hear back, “Very good morning to you as well!” The time indicator in the salutation and so too in the response can vary.
Repent and try to reform
Repentance is the after-fever that the mind suffers following an immoral or tabooed act. It is regret of, and acknowledgement, that one has done wrong and is accompanied by sorrow and contrition.
Carry the pride of humility
Humility is considered the first born of all virtues and it gives them solid foundation. It is a virtue that all appreciate and preach, but not practise.
