‘I had a crush on a girl in my maths tuition’
I did my graduation from M.M.H. College, Ghaziabad. Even though I was a geek in college, I had loads of fun. After spending the day in college, I would hang out at this famous coffee shop along with my friends. We’d sit there for hours talking about films, girls and believe me, even studies. In college, I remember there was one class
from 2 pm to 3 pm which I continuously bunked for almost six months. I still laugh when I recall the moment when one day as I entered the class, the teacher refused to let me in as he couldn’t recognise me and thought I didn’t belong there. It took some time convincing him.
However, there were many girls in the biology section and every time I saw my friends from biology section, I used to start humming these lines, Tumhe zindagi ke ujale mubaarak, andhere humein raas aane lage hain. I never dated anyone in college, but I did have a crush on this girl who was in my maths tuition. Our houses were opposite each other and she drove a moped. Once she offered me a ride, I refused and just to give me company, she walked two km on foot with me for a year despite having a vehicle to ride on. I didn’t understand all this that time, why she did that, but when I did, it was too late. She started seeing someone else and married him.
Since my college days, I had an avid interest in movies and singing and had been a part of many cultural events. It’s impossible to forget those days which were full of fun and freedom.
