Get wet, fashionably!
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. As the sweltering Indian summer gives way to the proverbial gloomy downpour, there are some basic rules that can help you stay dry and cool. Says Ritu Jani of 1090F, “It’s time to put away your denims and full-length trousers and bring out your shorts, skirts and floral dresses. Opt for fabrics that dry off quickly.”
The primary rule of dressing for the monsoons of course, is to avoid wearing white. “Wearing white is inviting trouble,” says Ritu. “Instead, choose darker hues like olive green, indigo, greyish black and brown. For hanging out with friends, you can wear a well-cut Lycra shirt with a knee-length skirt or a short shirtdress that is easy to wash. Avoid layers and wear T-shirts in happy colours like lime green, hot pink and deep blue.”
But what’s the point of wearing cool clothes when they’re hidden under a baggy windcheater? Pick a fitted windcheater in shades of red, yellow or navy blue this monsoon. Says Ketan Sanghvi of the Berge label, “Teens have a habit of buying loose windcheater so they can stuff their bags inside it. But buying the right fit looks smarter and protects you better.” Apart from that, ensure that your windcheater has a mesh lining, a rollover hood and zippers and pockets that are concealed with flaps.
So go ahead and have a fashionable monsoon!
