RIDING HIGH ON TELEVISION SOAPS

Desperate Housewiv-es, is a perfect mix of classy, funny, catty and trashy. A favourite for some and a guilty pleasure for others, either way you have to dig it. When it comes to this show, I don’t have the patience to wait for weekly episodes. I’ve watched the entire season online and Marc Cherry does not disappoint! Cherry’s plot for the show is like the summer/spring collections of this year- old is new! Paul Young is back and I have to admit, I quite enjoy him this season. Susan faces a lot this season and she handles it the “Susan” way (yes I used her name as an adjective!). Eva Longoria a.k.a Gabriel finally proves she is more than just a pretty face on the show. I usually love Lynette, but this season she disappoints. Bree isn’t her usual self this season either, the word “cougar” might pop up while watching her.
Unlike the botoxed faces of the Wisteria Lane ladies, a lot of things have changed- Vanessa Williams joins the cast, an obvious replacement for Edie Britt, and brings her own dose of mayhem to the lane. Also, Paul Young has a wife! I absolutely dig the show! The only thing I would ditch about this season is Brian Austin Green joining the cast. It’s obvious he didn’t get the role for his acting skills so the only explanation is that marrying Megan Fox gets you a good agent. It might sound like I am contradicting myself, but I loved Lynette in last week’s episode; she gave the word ‘high’ a whole new meaning. I don’t think I’ll ever think of parsley the same! Desperate Housewives is one of my favourite shows, one, I hope continues to make us laugh, smirk and gasp for many more seasons to come!

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
