In the shadow of a sibling
It’s rare that siblings get the bigger slice of the pie than their gifted star brothers or sisters who came before. Little Miss Sunshine Abigail Breslin did it (her brother is Spencer Breslin from The Kid and Cat in the Hat) and so did Ashlee Simpson. The rest “made it” but have to contend with second place.
1Hayley Joel and Emily Osment: Hayley made it big with four lines — “I see dead people”. Years before, Forrest Gump Jr, was a little known name but after the M. Night Shyamalan film, he got his big break. “He was really cute in Forrest Gump and Pay It Forward, but I don’t remember much else about him after his sister,” says Saina Ali, 17. His younger sister Emily stole the limelight in Hannah Montana. Little Gertie Giggles from Spy Kids 2 is now better known as Hannah’s sidekick Lily Truscott.
2 Hilary and Haylie Duff: Hilary’s older sister Haylie’s claim to fame is a television movie and co-writing songs for her sister’s album.
3 Miley and Trace Cyrus: Miley Cyrus’ half-brother Trace Cyrus is a complete contrast to his teenybopper sister. With tattoos and a pop rock band Metro Station (now defunct), Trace was the vocalist and guitarist for a band that gave us the chart topping Shake It.
