Sherlock’s at home
Dig it: Sherlock
We’re talking CRIME, DRAMA, MYSTERY — we’re talking SHERLOCK HOLMES! We have read about his adventures in books, back from the time we we were in school and even watched a series of movies based on him. The show, Sherlock, portrays the renowned detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend, Dr John Watson but with a pleasant variation — their adventures set in the 21st century.
Most of the work Sherlock does is from home (the very famous, 221B Barker Street, London) which he happens to share with Watson. The modern day Sherlock gets his cases over e-mails and uses his cellphone to get images of the crime spot (Well, that’s just the least amount of sophistication we ought to expect in a 21st century adaptation of Conan Doyle’s classic.) On the show, a cop happens to doubt Sherlock’s potentials and is reluctant in letting him handle the evidence of a crime scene. He shouldn’t have done that because all he got in return (apart from the well analysed evidence report, of course) was — ‘This investigation might move a bit quicker if you were to take my word as gospel.’ (What a statement!)
The dialogue delivery is absolutely brilliant. The lines are very well scripted. The actors portray the characters Sherlock and John very convincingly. The chemistry between Sherlock and John is a delight to watch. This is one of the best British TV series I have watched. And the Brit accent sounds really good! Conan Doyle’s fictional character Detective Sherlock Holmes, will always be ‘legendary’.
This show is a must-watch. (If it’s not the genre you generally enjoy, I am sure you are in for a pleasant surprise.) It’s a definite DIG IT!
