Youngsters and their obsession with accessories! Nowadays there is no dearth of options for trendy college students who love stand out and make a statement with their modified and accessorised bikes and cars. College girls and guys give a thumbs up to fancy vehicles that make them different from the rest.
Jattin Gulati, a student at Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences, says, “I ride a Royal Enfield Bullet Electra bike to my college, which I got specially modified to make it cool. I changed the normal tyres and replaced them with huge tyres that give my bike a very stylish look. The seat and lights are also modified a bit to make them more appealing. I think modified bikes have an advantage because they are unique from other models.”
Sometime a striking colour or car/bike tattoo also strikes a funky note. Abhishek Joy Philips, 23, an MBA student says, “I love my bike and since the paint was chipping off, I got it painted red. It’s a very bright colour and looks super cool. I even got new seat covers in black leather and now it looks like a brand new bike. Instead of buying a new bike, a little modification makes your old bike look as good as new.”
Karan U., an architecture student at Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies, feels that a well modified vehicle is a great way to impress fellow students.
He says, “I own a black Santro and got it modified a few months back. I am fond of music and so I just got a new head unit installed in my car with good quality speakers and sub-woofers. The personalised music control makes my car stand out, and it’s a hit with my friends for the superb music system.”
These days girls too like to touch up their automobiles to make a personal statement.
Ritika Singh, an Engineering student, says, “I ride a red scooter and I installed special mini blue lights on my number plate. I also got some cool star shaped stickers and car tattoos on my scooter. I got a matching helmet too and I think it speaks about my taste and choice.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
