14 roads in district to be resurfaced before rains
The resurfacing work of the 14 roads in the district, which was proposed in the budget, will be completed before the monsoon, the public works department minister V.K. Ibrahim Ku-nju promised on Monday.
The decision was taken at the projects review meeting held at Kunnampuram PWD guest house.
“PWD will make sure that these roads will be resurfaced before the rains. If we don’t begin the work now, once the monsoon season starts, we will have to wait for at least three months,” the minister said.
The meeting also decided to allot Rs 10 crore for the de-velopment of roads in Thr-ikkakara.
The PWD will al-locate Rs 1 crore for the construction of the Collector’s camp office at Kakkanad and Rs 50 lakh for the renovation of the guest house.
The minister also said the renovation work of the Drug Controller’s lab will get Rs 4 crore, while the Social Welfare Departme-nt’s Asha Bhavan will get Rs 31 lakh for reconstruction.
The PWD will also contribute Rs 2 crore to upgr-ade the homeopathic hospital as the district homeopathic hospital.
Resurfacing of the Edap-pally-Muvattupuzha, Pada-mukal-Palachuvadu, Deva-nkulangara-Kacherippady and Vayanashala-Infopark stretches is also expected to be done before monsoon.
