3,000 tourists throng Kochi
As many as 3,000 foreign tourists landed in Kochi in the last two days with around 1,500 coming in on luxury cruise liner Aida Diva on Sunday and the rest, by four chartered flights on Monday.
In what is called ‘turn around tourism,’ those who came by the cruise liner visited Fort Kochi and Kumbalangi and then left for various destinations in Germany with 900 of them by the chartered flights and the remaining by scheduled flights. Those who came in by air checked into the cruise liner in the afternoon.
The cruise liner will leave for Colombo on Tuesday. This was the second ‘turn around’ event in the city this year.
The first one was on March 19, when the same cruise liner and the chartered flights made an entry into Kochi.
Special arrangements were made at the Cochin International Airport to facilitate a hassle-free check-out and check-in for the tourists.
Last year, a ‘turn around’ event saw 5,000 tourists interchanging flights and luxury cruise liners.
