4 CPM MLAs are ready to join UDF: Selvaraj
Neyyattinkara MLA R. Selvaraj said here on Sunday that four more CPM MLAs were ready to cross over to the UDF camp and that he would give them all support.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of a function here, Mr Selvaraj, who had quit CPM and won from Neyyattinkara on a Congress ticket, said these four MLAs were unhappy with the “degeneration of CPM.”
“These include some senior functionaries who are in the top leadership of the party as well as some youngsters. The discontent in CPM is growing and spreading to rank and file. I will provide the MLAs all help when they take a decision,” he said.
Two day ago, government chief whip and Kerala Congress leader P.C. George too had claimed that four CPM MLAs were ready to move over to the UDF but he had not pursued it as chief minister Oommen Chandy did not favour it.
Mr Selvaraj, however, added that he had not discussed the matter with Oommen Chandy or KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.
He, however, dismissed suggestions that P.C. George was instrumental in his moving over to the UDF.
“I was friendly with Mr George but never discussed my leaving CPM.”
