Achuthanandan biography to appear by year-end
Some startling disclosures are likely as the life and struggles of eminent Communist leader and present Opposition leader, V.S. Achuthanandan, will be narrated in a book that is under preparation.
Salient topics to be covered in the book include VS’ childhood that was a saga of bitter truths and painful memories; the way he became a rebel in his adolescence; his youthful years spent in anti-colonial struggles; his experiences as a labour unionist; and his growth into a mass leader – probably the most respected Communist leader from Central Kerala since P. Krishna Pillai.
Some of the hitherto untold stories of the Communist movement will be included, said Babu Bharadwaj, a former SFI leader who is writing the book. He has held a few sittings with VS to collect the materials for the book, and the book is expected to be released by the year-end.
There will also be chapters on VS’ struggles within CPM in recent times, and the murder of RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan.
The book will have some startling disclosures, and the common, yet not-so-well-known facets of the leader, said A.V. Sreekumar of DC Books, who proposed this idea.
“The book will tickle the curiosity of the general reader as well as the elites. We are planning to make it available by the end of this year,” he said.
