Another cylinder blast
A major tragedy was averted on Wednesday when a family of four escaped in the nick of time just before an LPG cylinder exploded inside their house near Perumalppadi in Elamkunnapuzha, Vypeen.
Sebastian George, his wife Alice and their children Steffin and Neha escaped the blast as they fled from their house as soon as they saw sparks and fire coming out of the knob of the Indane cylinder.
However, two rooms went down in ashes, while the furniture, TV, refrigerator and an almirah were damaged in the fire.
The SSLC certificate and other academic documents of the children were burned completely.
The mishap occurred at around 7.15 am, when Alice was getting breakfast ready.
When she saw sparks moving from the cylinder knob to the stove, she alerted her husband and children. They realized it was wiser to flee from the place.
Before long, the cylinder exploded and there was fire everywhere. The Paravoor fire force and Njarakkal police arrived on the spot and brought the blaze under control with the help of the local people.
A forensic team also came to the place and examined the cylinder. The cylinder came from Valappu Coastal gas agency.
